Hello Live Oak,
My name is Jesse Sosa and I will be your campus' Instructional Technology Specialist for the upcoming school year. I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little about me.

This will be my seventh year in Round Rock ISD. I did my first six years as a third grade teacher at Kathy Caraway Elementary, where I learned so much and grew tremendously as an educator. I decided to change things up this year and was hired to be the new Instructional Technology Specialist here at Live Oak Elementary. I am excited to be starting a whole new year full of possibilities at a new school to me!

My educational journey started in Fort Worth, Texas at Castleberry Elementary. There I was fortunate to have enthusiastic and inspiring teachers. However, my aspirations to become a teacher did not blossom until my junior year of high school. That year I enrolled in a program that allowed my to go to the local elementary school a couple of times a week to help out in a classroom. I had the unique opportunity to work with my own former second grade teacher. I didn't know it back then, but some of her passion had rubbed off on me.

After graduating from Castleberry High School, I attended The University of Texas at Austin where I began the process to turn my blood burnt orange. I immediately fell in love with Austin and its many social opportunities. I knew that I wanted to start my life here. After graduating in December 2007 I was lucky to get a job at Kathy Caraway Elementary. There I learned a lot about being an effective teacher and using technology to support lessons. I still love teaching and it was a very difficult decision to make the switch from a classroom teacher to an Instructional technology specialist, but I am really excited to experience teaching from a new perspective. I am also looking forward to working with both teachers and students on using technology in the classroom.

When not cultivating young minds, I enjoy movies, kayaking on Town Lake, Texas football games, and vegging on the couch with my miniature schnauzer Mia. I am a big nerd as well. I love all things super heroes and still read comic books. I like playing games on my xbox and hosting game nights with friends. I have a twin brother and we are the youngest of seventeen siblings(including step and half siblings).

I am very excited to be joining the Live Oak Elementary faculty and staff. I would love for Live Oak to be known as a place were technology is used to enhance lessons and motivate students. I am looking forward to getting to know each and everyone of you, and working with you all hand in hand. Please use me as a resource. I am here for you and all of your technological needs. All I ask is that you be open to the ideas the district technology office offers, as well as ideas that I may present, and have patience with me as I take on this new job role. Cara will be my mentor this year so you all will still see her from time to time. I will be up at Live Oak starting next week, if you see me in passing please stop me and introduce yourself. I will also be presenting the 3rd Grade First Nine Weeks Just In Time Session on August 6th and the Stemscopes 2.0 Job Alike Training for 2nd Grade teachers on August 20th.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to meeting you soon!
